HOT NEWS!

The LAOH National Board will be honoring the role Irish American women played in shaping our country.  Attached is their first newsletter to celebrate America 250.  We hope you enjoy a little Irish History.  

September 16th BIG E - HOLYOKE DAY!  Those wishing to join the fun meet at Gate 1 at 5pm.  Parade kicks off at 6pm and lasts about 1/2 hour.  Refer to the Calendar of Events for some tips on parking.  Any questions contact Peter Hogan 413.330.6635

September 18th - join a few AOH Celebrity Bartenders at the John Boyle O'Reilly Club to benefit Lorraine's Soup Kitchen & Pantry 6-8pm.  See attached flyer.

LAOH announces their Annual Par 3 Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 20th at Holyoke Country Club, 2 Country Club Road, Holyoke.  See attached flyer for details.  Also attached is a Sponsor letter.  Interested in sponsoring the event - see attached Sponsor form.  LAOH will be collecting items for the Holyoke Veterans Home - refer to the attached recommended list for some needed items.  Contact Chairperson Nora McMahon @ 413.218.2092 or driscona@gmail.com for more information.
 

LAOH will be preparing PB&J sandwiches for Kate's Kitchen Saturday, October 4th at 10am.  All are welcomed 25 Roland Street, Holyoke.  Contact Rosalie Pratt at 413.532.1677 if you have questions. 

October 9th - AOH Membership Drive at Irish Cultural Center, 429 Morgan Rd, West Springfield.  If you know prospective members, encourage them to stop by 5pm - 8pm.

LAOH announces their 2025 Irish History Contest for grades 6-8 (Level 1) and 9-12 (Level 2).  Topic this year is "How the Irish affected the outcome of the American Revolution".  Entries must be submitted by October 30, 2025.  Contact Noranne Duquette, MA State President, and Division 2 Historian, at masspresidentlaoh@gmail.com.  See attatched flyer, announcement letter for parents/teachers, and Contest Rules.

Except for Monday holidays:  AOH and LAOH meetings are the first Monday of the month 6:00 p.m. for the LAOH and 7:00 p.m. for the men.  There are no meetings in July and August - see you in September.  Enjoy your summer.  Due to the Labor Day holiday, the next meeting will be Monday, September 8th.

Applications for the 2025 Maurice A. Donahue Memorial Scholarship are no longer being accepted.  Please check back in April 2026.  The 2025 scholarships will be awarded at the AOH/LAOH Summer Picnic at The Summit View, Holyoke.  Congratulations to Maela Allen, Riley Mary Allen, Emma Kelly and Peter Pluta.  Read more about them on the Scholarship page.

Congratulations to our LAOH Division-2 Historian, Noranne Duquette who was unanimously voted State President at the recent State Convention.  Thank you Barbara Twohig for your 3-year service as LAOH State President.  

Mother's Day raffle was won by Annette Stark.  I'm sure Annette and her guests enjoyed a delicious brunch, complements of Delaney House.  Congratulations to Annette!
